2020 is well and truly here… and with a new year comes new colours, textures, themes and ideas hitting the interior scene.

Whether you are looking at a complete interiors overhaul, or just wanting to make some little tweaks here or there, we’ve pulled out our favourite six trends for this new decade.

1. Concrete

Concrete is set to be a game changer in the coming months. With this cool and modern look, it can enhance almost any finish, making it easy to integrate into existing colour palettes. You can introduce it into your home through a kitchen bench top, bathroom basin or a free-standing bath.

2. Nature tones

Still going strong from 2019, earthy tones and organic materials are still a hot ticket trend for 2020. Think muted and dusty colours and strikes of orange and pink, or blues and greens with wood or stone. Whether you introduce it through modern floorboards or touches through pillows, paintings or statement furniture pieces –  keep your eye on this colour palette and try bringing a little bit of the outside, in.

3. Terrazzo

You may have seen this style in cafés, dinnerware or bathroom floors in splashes of pinks, greys or blacks, but take note as 2020 is the year it will be stretching out of the confines of the bathroom and kitchen. Made up of pieces of marble, glass and stone, it is a spectacular conversation starter in any home.

Better yet, as it’s becoming so popular, there are now several options in the market. So there are many different options for your budget.

4. Wall panelling

Sophisticated, eye catching and minimal, wall panelling has been popular in 2019 and is strong again in 2020. Whether it’s in your hallway, a feature above a bed head or in the bathroom, people love it for both its looks and affordability. This is the perfect feature if you want to mix up textures and colours.

5. Minimal and comfortable

Simple and minimalistic styling is becoming not only a 2020 trend, but also a lifestyle! You can still have your cushions, throws and comfy couches – just with this styling trend, it’s a little more restrained. This year is about finding the perfect in-between of functionality and décor. Give it a go by choosing items such as side tables or chairs that complement the space while keeping it fresh, open and uncluttered.

6. Glass lighting

Move aside lamps and shades –  and say hello to stunning statement lights with glass features. These lighting options are illuminated artworks and can make a significant difference to any space. Better still, they can easily be incorporated into any existing interior theme due to the vast range of styles and options available in this category. Whether it’s next to the bed for a night time glow or above the kitchen table to make a statement, chandeliers, pendants and lights can bring the 2020 wow-factor into any space.
