Mini golf with a twist

Try your hand at mini golf in the dark at Chillisaurus Mini Golf, a dinosaur themed mini golf course 20 minutes away in Merriwa. Dinosaur lovers will be right at home at the 18 hole, glow in the dark course that is home to lots of friendly prehistoric dinosaurs and artefacts. While the kids tee off, parents can relax at Chillis Café where a range of delicious snacks, meals and drinks are available. Chillisaurus Mini Golf is open Wednesday – Sunday; Adults $18, kids $12 and supervisors $3. Eat, Pick, Grow, Drive Trail

Take a day trip to the stunning Chittering Vallery and follow the Eat, Pick, Grow Trail. The ultimate foodies day out, taste and take home locally grown food from local producers, take part in unique fruit picking experiences and grow your own fruit, veg and succulent plants from specialist outlets. Start the day at Chocolate Drops Tearoom in Yanchep and venture as far as Golden Grove Citrus Orchard in Chittering for a family day of fun. Ghost House Walk Trail

Discover the natural and cultural history of the wilderness areas in Yanchep National Park, just a 5 minute drive from Jindowie. Best suited for early to late teens, this relatively easy 12.4km walking trail gives visitors the chance to encounter the sights and sounds of pristine wetlands and discover the historic remains of the ‘Ghost House’, so bring your camera! Spend a day in paradise

An icon of the Wanneroo area since 1981, the tranquil Wanneroo Botanic Gardens have activities to cater for every member of the family. Simply wander the gardens and admire the kaleidoscope of colours of the beautiful flowers, water features and lush greenery. For more of an active day, try your hand at mini-golf on Australia’s largest outdoor mini-golf complex. Fill rumbling tummies with delicious food and coffee at the very popular Leap Frog Café, offering an all-day menu that is sure to please all palates. Hot tip: try one of their pizzas, you won’t regret it!

Curl up with a book
The school holidays are always a great time to catch up on those books you’ve been meaning to get to. The Yanchep/Two Rocks Library boasts a huge collection of books for both the community’s youngest minds through to great, new release adult reads and non-fiction collections. The library is open Monday to Saturday and has a great online directory, so you can check to see if they’ve got your favourites in stock!
