Yanchep National Park

You might not know it, but less than 10 minutes from home lies one of Western Australia’s oldest national parks. Famous for its limestone caves, Aboriginal cultural experiences, kangaroos and one of Australia’s biggest koala colonies, there’s so much to see and do at Yanchep National Park.

Here are some of our must-do experiences:

  • Climb and crawl through the famous crystal caves with a seasoned cave guide on an Adventure Cave Tour. Book an experience here.
  • Book an Aboriginal Experience and immerse yourself in the local Noongar culture. Learn about the world’s oldest living culture, experience didgeridoo playing and find out the significance of plants and animals to the original custodians of the area. Book an experience here.
  • Take a walk on one of the many trails that highlight the amazing biodiversity of the northern Swan Coastal Plain.
  • Visit the koalas, kangaroos and birds – there is even a daily free koala talk to fill you in about these loveable marsupials.

Yanchep Lagoon

One of the best perks about living in Yanchep is being so close to the coast. Yanchep Lagoon is a stunning beach protected by a reef situated 20 metres offshore, making shallow waters and low waves perfect for kids. Overflowing with shallow rock pools, bright coral and friendly sea life, the calm waters of the lagoon are the perfect place for your little ones to try their hand at snorkelling. If fishing is more your thing, the southern end of the lagoon and Fisherman’s Hollow are great spots to bag a snapper or two.

Yanchep Lavender Farm

If you’re searching for a day out that’s as pretty as a picture, look no further than Yanchep Lavender Farm. Just 10 minutes down the road, you’ll find Perth’s biggest operating Lavender Farm. Free to visit, the farm has a stunning variety of lavender plants, as well as other great flowers and herbs. With a gift shop stocked with thoughtful goodies like lavender oils, soaps and lotions and a cafe selling delicious eats like lavender ice-cream, cookies and lots more.
