We might be a little biased but we think Yanchep is one of the best places to be during a Perth summer. With bright, blue skies, Yanchep Lagoon, more than its fair share of sunshine and there are so many great ways to spend the summer holidays. We’ve done all the hard work for you and compiled a list of all the things you can do in and around Jindowie to make this summer the best yet.

The Beaches

Only a stone’s throw away from pristine beaches including one of Perth’s best beaches, Yanchep Lagoon, and Fisherman’s Hollow – you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to places to while away a summer day. The clear, calm waters of Yanchep Lagoon make it a perfect spot for snorkelling and swimming. Conveniently situated down Brazier Drive, Fisherman’s Hollow is also a great spot for swimming and snorkelling, when the Lagoon buzzes with a few too many fellow beachgoers. It’s also a prime spot for casting a line as the sun dips below the horizon and offers abundant opportunities for abalone fishing, a pastime beloved by both locals and visitors.

Strawberry Picking

Just a short drive away in the nearby suburb of Carabooda, the Aida Strawberry Farm comes alive in the spring and summer. Upon arrival, arm yourself with a box for less than $10 and set about harvesting your own strawberries from the expansive rows of plants. Be sure to mark your weekends for a visit when they’re in season, as that’s the exclusive time the farm welcomes berry enthusiasts.

Summer Soiree

Summer brings with it the perfect blend of warm days and gentle, balmy evenings, creating the ideal backdrop for welcoming friends and family into your Jindowie home. There’s nothing quite like gathering under the night sky, enjoying delicious eats and cool drinks, while creating cherished moments with those you hold dear. That’s what summer is all about after all.

Explore Yanchep National Park

Yanchep National Park offers a diverse array of nine walking trails, catering to all levels, from leisurely strolls to more challenging hikes. The Ghost House Walk Trail, a 12.4km loop, is a crowd favourite. It weaves through wetlands and by the eerie ‘Ghost House’ ruins. Start your adventure on the North Lake boardwalk and conclude the experience at the historic Cabaret Cave. For those who enjoy a walk or mountain biking, the Yaberoo Budjara Heritage Trail is a must-try. Stretching 28 km from Lake Joondalup to Yanchep National Park, this trail is often tackled in segments, each unveiling different natural wonders. The Yanchep stretch guides you from the park to Wanneroo Road, taking you by Pipidinny Swamp and through a big grove of tuart trees.
